Wedding FAQs

How would you describe your style of photography?

Im in the middle of a traditional wedding photographer and a documentary / candid wedding photographer. So what does that mean? A traditional wedding photographer will usually work their way through a scripted 'shot list' to ensure they have everything covered that the couple have requested, including all the key events of the day and all the little details. A documentary / candid photographer will follow you around and capture all the events of the day as they unfold, not just the planned moments. A documentary photographer will blend into the background and photograph without you really knowing they're there, generally focusing on authentic, emotional moments.
I ensure that in the planning of the day, I put together a list of all the specific group portraits and moments the couple want capturing. Working with the time line of the day, I ensure that these shots are set up and captured. The rest of the day is about being in the right place at the right time to capture everything in between as it unfolds.

How long have you been photographing weddings and how many do you shoot each year?

I covered my first wedding in 2015. It was for a friend and a nerve wrecking experience. But an experience I instantly loved and have now gone from strength to strength. I typically cover between 20 and 30 weddings a year. Ive covered various different types of venue from small to large churches, barns, fields, hotels and registry offices.

Do you have back up equipment?

Yes. It is very important for a wedding photographer to have back up equipment. I tend to have 3 cameras with me during a wedding and a number of various lenses. Cameras are mechanical and can also be dropped during the course of the day. The cameras that I use have two memory card slots in them. Your photos are shot onto both memory cards, this also covers in the event of a memory card failing. I have a number of spare cards in my kit bag and often replace them with new cards.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. Insurance is very important as a wedding photographer. A lot of wedding venues will request a copy of your wedding vendors insurance certificates before a wedding. I have pubic liability and indemnity insurance.

Do we get to meet you before the wedding day?

Yes. It is very important to me that I meet all couples before the wedding day. I am the one person that will spend most of your special day with you. I find that meeting before hand is a real ice breaker and starts to build a bond between us. I plan to meet all couples about a month before the wedding date. This is the time we can run through your timings and the specific photos for your formal shoot lists.

If you haven't shot at my wedding venue before, how will you know the best places for photos?

Before any wedding at a venue I have not worked at before, I will always do a site visit. Quite often I will suggest that the pre wedding meeting is at your venue. You have picked your venue for specific reasons and will have a vision in your mind of how the day will look. If possible having the meeting at your venue will give me an insight into your visions for the day.

How many photographs do we receive?

It is difficult to guarantee a certain number of photos. The numbers depend on the package you choose and the time im with you on the day. Typically for a full day wedding you will receive around 500 edited photos. All images you receive are edited in JPEG format for your use. You receive full printing rights for those images.

What I do promise, is that I never hold back photos that you would want. Every time you hear of someone needing a photographer, I want my name to be the first name you think of.

How do I book you?

My booking process is straight forward, quick and easy.
I use an electronic booking system for this purpose. I will email you an information form, to gather some details about yourselves and your day. This can be completed and submitted straight from your phone, tablet or computer. Once this has been submitted, I will use that information to put your booking agreement in place. This will then be sent for you to review and sign. Again this can be signed from your phone or tablet. At this stage I will send you bank details for the 50% booking fee.
Once the booking fee has been paid and you sign the agreement, everything is then booked and secured.
